King C-Melody #84662 - vintage lacquer - Front-F key !

King C-Melody #84662 - vintage lacquer, and front-F key

More pictures coming, but I may keep this one....

Vintage lacquer, s/no 84662 - few small dings, and some lacquer loss on one side of the neck (showing in pic), but no serious problems at all.  Unusual for these to appear in vintage lacquer, it was a king option for C-Mels.  Older style pads (brown), just about plays.

Current Condition : Not quite playable - but I'll enjoy part-restoring this to playable condition, but if anyone wants to make me an offer in the mean time, it's one less project out of many...  Sensible offers around

King stencil for Lyon & Healy - "Inspiration" - with front-F key

 King stencil for Lyon & Healy - "Inspiration" - with front-F keyClick on me for more pictures and info

Quite rare 'King' stencil for Lyon & Healy, they are usually either Buescher or Martin.  Has a range of King / HN White features including domed cups and the extra octave key guide, at the front of the neck, just above the socket.

This model is a mix of bare-brass body (possibly partially manually stripped from silver), with a large amount of silver plating remaining on the action, giving quite a unique two-tone effect - I affectionately call her 'Big Ugly', but she has a BIG sound to match that bell !

Current Condition :  This C-Mel is dismantled for inspection and lubrication, but will be sold in full playing order, albeit with a mixture of pads - a couple more of which will be replaced before re-assembly. Sensible offers around

STILL TO COME - Two (at the last count, unless they've started breeding...)  Buescher stencils, Lyon & Healy American Professional, one currently stripped for cleaning.

A couple of Conn straight-neck C-Mels, one in silver plate, and one in nickel (the latter is in need of slightly more repair, but well worth the effort, and with a natty little fitted CONN case !).

A Kalashen (Buescher stencil) with a peculiar finish.

Another Martin and a Martin stencil - I'm sure there are more.

Hmm, that makes a total, including those already listed, of 20 C Melody Saxes !  Not counting the 'walking wounded' below, which brings it up to around 25 !   Ooops, how did that happen ?

                *    *    *    *

As mentioned,  I also have more than a handful of C-Mels (Martin, Buescher, Conn, King) missing a key or two, or a bit dinted - may well be fixable, or used for parts.  Happy to haggle when I've found them all...

Watch this space !!!!
