From the listing of a sax sold by me a long time ago....

1920's Lyon & Healy 'American Professional' Saxophone with the original case.

This saxophone is bright and matt silver and was purchased  from the original owner's estate.  She was a music teacher who passed away at the age of 98.   Her family said the saxophone dated back to the early 1920's, and has not been played in a number of years.   There is no corrosion on the finish, just needs a polish.   There are no dents or dings on the saxophone- it is a beauty!!!   All the keys on the saxophone move freely, just like they should.    The original case has some normal wear on the outside, but the inside is nice and clean and odour free.  No musty smells,  this comes from a smoke-freehome.   All the latches on the case work .

The Saxophone is marked:   "Lyon & Healy Inc.  American Professional - Chicago"  "C   12700   L"

NOTE  the Martin style bow protector, neck brace, and bevelled tone-holes, BUT the Conn-style 'mercedes' style Low-C guard.  The mouthpiece is marked "C3"   A veritable time-capsule......

( Addendum )

Another interesting webpage link below about Lyon & Healy, with further links on that web-page - there is other ongoing L&H research taking place, it's become a bit of a cult, and of particular interest to me as I have both L&H C-Melody and C-Soprano saxes...

The build quality (and sound) of all the L&H's I've owned and played far exceeded their achievable market value  and regrettably that state will probably continue.
